IN PURSUIT OF FORM

For this first exhibition, we have selected eight unique pieces by 20th-century avant-garde artists, in which we perceive an innovation—a distinct quality that catches our attention. One question guided our selection: What force drives an artist to develop a singular style?

Thus, we focus on the artist's search for form. It is a personal quest, shaped by technical concerns and theoretical reflections.

It is difficult to isolate these practices from the environment in which they emerged, as artists constantly draw inspiration from the innovations of their peers. Synthetists, Cubists, Futurists, Surrealists, Nouveau Réalistes… These are all movements with more or less defined theoretical frameworks, which artists both contributed to and drew from. It is also in opposition to these movements that individual formal explorations take shape, allowing new ideals to emerge.

It is this tension in the creative process—between deeply held personal convictions and external influences—that we explore in this exhibition.
